The local 2025/26 Broadway Across America – Arizona season at ASU Gammage has been announced.  The schedule includes a record ten-shows but, like past seasons, several touring Broadway musicals will not stop here.  Like local audiences have been told in the past, if the show is touring but isn’t included, it will probably appear in the future. Eight shows make up the season with two optional shows that local audiences have seen previously.

The eight-show collection opens with “Suffs” (October 14-19, 2025) a popular Broadway musical about the women’s suffragette movement.  The all-female cast means that the men who assisted in getting the women’s vote are played by women.

“& Juliet” (November 4-9, 2025) is penned by the popular television show “Schitt’s Creek” writers and musically provides a different take on the “Romeo and Juliet” Shakespearean tale.  It’s described as a “romantic comedy.”  The Tony-Award winning “Shucked” (December 2-7, 2025) is described as a “corn-bred American musical” directed by Jack O’Brien who staged the original Broadway “Hairspray” production.

“A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” (January 27-February 1, 2026) tells the rock icon’s story using the composer’s song catalog.  Next is the season’s only non-musical “Clue” (February 17-22, 2026) based on the 1985 film.  The mystery thriller lets audiences figure out who was killed and by whom.

Based on the popular book and film, “The Notebook” (April 7-12, 2026) explains the story of a man and a woman’s love and the struggles they go through during their life.  It is directed by Michael Greif who staged the original “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Next to Normal,” and “Rent.”

Greif also directed “Hell’s Kitchen” (April 28-May 3, 2026) that features Alicia Keys songs and is a current Broadway hit about a teenager trying to find her way in life as she confronts many things around her.  The season concludes with a new production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” (June 24-July3, 2026) that celebrates the musical’s 30th anniversary.

The optional attractions are “The Book of Mormon” (January 6-11, 2026) an irreverent and humorous take on the religion and “Six” (March 17-22, 2026) a populist tale on Henry VIII’s wives.

Missing are three current Broadway hit musicals – “The Outsiders” which won the 2024 Tony Award as best musical and describes people who strive to survive as they search for a life purpose, “The Great Gatsby” that Entertainment Weekly described as a “Broadway extravaganza that explodes with life and energy,” and the just closed “Water for Elephants” that has been titled a “gorgeously imaginative Broadway musical.”

Also missing are two touring plays, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” which Playbill sums up as “Prepare to be on the edge of your seat as Harry, Ron and Hermione launch into a thrilling new adventure that begins 19 years later in a one show incarnation following its world premiere as a two-part play” and the most Tony-Award winning play “Stereophonic.”  The musical “Back to the Future,” based on the popular film, is included in many Broadway seasons including Tucson but it isn’t scheduled in Tempe.

The 2025/26 Broadway in Arizona season isn’t bad but it skips a few big touring Broadway shows.  To order tickets, call the ASU Gammage box office at 480-965-3434 or order tickets online at www.asugammage.com.
